Last week marked the solemn farewell of Maria Isabel Benites Chamba in Ecuador, a woman of 95, laid to eternal rest amid her family and friends. Amidst the attendees paying their respects at her funeral, a steadfast companion insisted on going above and beyond.

That unwavering companion was none other than Chamba’s cherished dog, Bumer. His devotion knew no bounds, refusing to depart from her side until the very end.

Throughout the wake, meticulously organized by Funeraria Santa Rosa, Bumer stood by, mirroring the loyalty he had shown in her lifetime.

“The bond between her and her dog was evident in their loyalty and affection,” expressed a spokesperson from the funeral home. “He remained steadfastly devoted to his owner.”

As the ceremony drew to a close, a procession formed, trailing Chamba’s casket toward the cemetery. True to his devotion, Bumer insisted on being a part of it all.

“He circled the hearse, then hopped aboard, almost as if saying, ‘I want to bid farewell to my mom,’” shared the funeral home spokesperson. “A remarkable testament to loyalty.”

In the midst of his heartbreak, Bumer’s profound love for Chamba shone brightly for everyone present to witness.

Although Chamba has departed, Bumer’s fidelity endures. It’s hoped that in due course, his shattered heart will find solace. Yet, he won’t traverse this healing journey unaccompanied.

As per the funeral home, the little dog was last seen enveloped in the warm embrace of Chamba’s family, united in their shared reminiscence of the beloved soul they held dear.
